A unique season for Carberry 14 and under girls

The Carberry 14 and under girls fastball team had a unique experience at the provincial tournament in Steinbach in early July this year.
They had a very productive season in the Brandon League as they had three strong pitchers and a very competitive group of players.
After the round robin portion of the tournament they were enthusiastic about the play-offs. However, the tournament volunteers misinterpreted the regulations and ruled the Carberry girls ineligible for further competition.
The Carberry coaches appealed the situation to Softball Manitoba for further clarification. Veteran executive director, Don Klym, stated that the tournament officials erred and to rectify the situation offered to reimburse the team some of their tournament registration fees and a set of championship T-shirts.
The Carberry team declined the offer, with thanks, but were happy to have clarified the situation.
However, it was not the way which the team hoped the season would end. They did have a successful exhibition game against their parents!!!
