Cause of death confirmed in Chase Martens case

The cause of death has been confirmed in the case of Chase Martens stated a release this morning from the RCMP.

In an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Sunday, March 27, the results have confirmed that Chase's death was the result of drowning. His body was found in Pine Creek, 500 metres south of the family's home just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26. The discover brought a tragic end to the five day search against time to find the missing toddler.

On Sunday, March 27, there was a vigil held for Chase where mourners showed up to comfort his grieving family and to say goodbye. Part of the vigil included a walk to the area of the creek where his body was found, toys and stuffed animals were placed in trees and flowers laid on a patch of ice in the creek. 

The RCMP would again like to thank all the volunteers and partners that assisted in the search for Chase.
