CC badminton teams show great growth

Head coach, Bob Clark stated the Carberry Collegiate badminton team “Showed great growth, attitude and sportsmanship and I can’t wait for next year.” The team had three entries in each of the five categories i.e.. girls and boys singles, girls, boys and mixed doubles. The top two finished in each category advance to the provincials in Brandon, May 4-5.
At the Zone tournament held in Neepawa and Minnedosa on Tuesday, April 24,  each category had several pools of players. After round robin play in each pool, the two players advanced to the playoffs.
Here are the Zone results for the CC badminton team. Burke Erickson made it to the playoffs in Boys’ Singles; Jacob Normore made it to the provincials for Boys’ Singles, but unfortunately lost in the final; Sarah Waldner made it to the playoffs and finished fourth overall in Girls’ Singles; Jory Aitken and Mattias Van de Woestyne won their pool 3-0 for Boys’ Doubles and made it to the playoffs; Camryn McMillan & Tori Adriaansen lost in the finals of Girls’ Doubles, but made it to provincials; Lian Flett &  Zoe Cupples made it to the playoffs for Girls’ Doubles; Emily & Nadine Perrault made it to the playoffs and finished third in Girls’ Doubles. All Mixed Doubles teams of Alex Senchuk & Jordyn Bergen, Zach Steen & Aleigh Senchuk and Brett Janssen & Margaret Araya had 4-2 records and made the playoffs.
