A cheque in the amount of $100,000, the largest amount raised to-date, was presented to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) on June 16, at the annual McCain Clear Lake Golf Classic held at the scenic Riding Mountain National Park.  This was the 20th year that McCain has hosted the golf tournament, bringing the total amount raised for the charity to an incredible $1.54 million.
160 golfers turned out for the event, teeing off while the one-and-only Ronald McDonald cheered them on. Many of the golfers have proudly attended every one of the 20 tournaments, which demonstrates the passion, commitment and importance of this event that supports families who need a home-away-from-home while their child is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
Allison Kesler, CEO, RMH Winnipeg, expressed how Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba appreciates the amount of support McCain Foods has provided to their local House and the other 13 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. “As we strive at the local level to provide care and assistance to more sick children and their families than ever before, the funds raised for the Manitoba House comes at a true time of need.”
“Never before has the support of the McCain Clear Lake Golf Classic been more important," said Cathy Loblaw, President and CEO of RMHC Canada. “After 20 years of unwavering support to Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada, this year marked a combined total donation of $1.5 million in support of families with sick children.  This is a remarkable commitment of sustaining support that allows us to provide a home away from home for over 20,000 families while their sick child is being treated at a nearby hospital.  This special, one-of-a-kind community event is now RMHC Canada’s longest-running donor-run fundraiser – truly defining the meaning of community caring at its best.”
