The Carberry Royals and Neepawa Cubs are tied at a game apiece in their best of five Santa Clara League final series.
The Cubs won an 8-3 decision in their series opener at Neepawa on Friday, August 4, however, the Royals rebounded to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 victory at home on Tuesday, August 8. Due to a provincial senior AA tournament at Neepawa, August 11-13, the series will resume at Neepawa and Carberry on Wednesday, August 16 and Friday, August 18 respectively. Game times are 6:30 p.m.
In Neepawa, southpaw Garrett Rempel bested Daylon Creasy in a pitcher’s duel. Rempel tossed a three hitter and struck out five, while Creasy scattered eight safeties and whiffed four.

In game two at Carberry, the Royals tallied three runs in the third and the Cubs tied the game in the fifth when Shane Levandosky drove in two runs and crossed home plate with the tying run on a throwing error.
Neepawa scored the go ahead run in the top of the seventh on a walk, single and error all with two out. Carberry tallied twice in the bottom half of the seventh on an error, single, and a pair of throwing errors. Catcher Brett Heselwood scored the winning run as he went from first to home plate on a pair of throwing miscues.
Warren Birch hit three singles while Drew Allan scored twice for the hosts.
Daylon Creasy allowed five hits, issued four passes and shut out two in a complete game.
