The Carberry Children’s Christmas Store 2017

posted Nov 28, 2017, 9:04 AM by Kathy Carr
For the past few years with the assistance of the churches, volunteers and the Drop In Centre, Carberry has offered a Children’s Christmas Store.
The Premise behind the store is to allow those children and youth in our area, who might otherwise not have the means nor ability to shop elsewhere, to be able to purchase gifts for their families.
The store functions this way: People donate NEW items or VERY gently used items for children and adults. Examples could be toys, books, toiletries, mitts, perfume, slippers, puzzles, chocolate, games, jewellery, men’s gift items, etc. These items are collected, and then on the appointed days, the children and youth (13 and under) may come and purchase gifts at minimal costs, for their siblings and parents from donated items.
The children and youth will shop on their own, (parents will be asked to wait in the waiting area). There will be volunteers on hand to assist the children. Access to the Christmas Store is left to the individual family’s discretion. We would also like to invite parents to shop on Friday evening as well. Unsold gifts will be donated to our local Christmas Cheer Board, Samaritan House or the Brandon Women’s Shelter.
This year, the Christmas Store will be collecting gifts from most of the area churches, as well as drop off locations around town including: Reilly’s Home Hardware, Westoba Credit Union, Carberry Collegiate, the Drop-In Centre, Falk Pharmacy and HMS.
We will also accept money towards gifts purchased from local merchants. Cheques can be made out to the Carberry United Church attain: Christmas Store.
The location of the Christmas Store is the Drop-In Centre. The dates of the store have been changed from two days to one day on Friday, December 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. *Due to scheduling conflicts, our store will be open Friday only.
