The high school students have been very busy this month finishing up school work as well as participating in many different activities. Here is a brief snapshot of what we have been getting up to in December.
Grades 7-12 attended the annual Christmas dance on December 8th. Brian from Expressions Entertainment helped us  dance the night away and made sure that we had a lot of fun with various games he had us take part in.
All Carberry Collegiate students were invited to participate in a holiday-themed spirit week from December 12 to 16. Fun days such as red/green day, Christmas sweater day and white out day were part of the fun.
December 13th found us in the gym being serenaded by sweet notes from the band students. Performances from the grade 7s, grade 8s, senior band, jazz band as well as the choir were sure to entertain. We are already looking forward to hearing from them again in the spring.
On December 14, the grade 9 students enrolled in French, headed to Winnipeg to participate in Apprendre en Faisant, which means learn by doing. This activity was directed fully in French to expand the knowledge of these students.
The annual grade 9-12 ski trip to Asessippi is approaching. Students who didn't sign up will be missing out on a fun day at the hills on December 21st.
Finally, be sure to come out and watch the annual Wildcats vs. Raiders hockey game on December 22 at the rink. The game starts at 12 pm.

The Grade 5-8 hallway has been busy, busy, busy!
5K is enjoying their new computer buddies…the Grade 12 English students!  They are really excited about working with them.
5J are learning how to “code”!  Coding is a form of computer science where we get to program our own characters then create our very own games.
The grade 6’s recently brought in a whole bunch of homemade baking and sold it over the noon hour.  All money earned went towards Christmas Cheer. The treats were really delicious!
Grades 5 and 6 are looking forward to swimming at the Sportsplex on Dec. 22.  This fun activity will be to celebrate the end of the 2016 school year.
We recently had a Book Fair here at C.C.  This was hosted by our school library and Ms. Clark brought in tons of awesome books and cool stuff for us to look at and purchase.
Grade 7’s have been working really hard in their classroom.  They had some fun designing spaghetti bridges in Science and are looking forward to playing 7/8 basketball.
The grade 8’s had a successful “We Scare Hunger” campaign and were able to collect lots and lots of non-perishable food for the local food cupboard. They have their ski trip coming up soon.
As you can tell, there’s always something going on at Carberry Collegiate!  We look forward to the New Year and all the exciting things ahead at CC. Be sure to keep your eyes open for our monthly column so you can know about all the exciting happenings at our school!
